Viewrail offers stainless steel cable railing for your cable railing systems project. Our 1/8″ stainless steel cable is 316 Stainless Steel with high corrosion resistant properties. Although considered “Marine Grade,” Viewrail only uses Rod Railing or Glass Railing for coastal projects, or projects within 10 miles of the coast.
Please Note: As of 4/17/23, all Express posts have been changed over to 1/8″ cable and cable fittings. If you need 5/32″ Express products, please reach out to our Sales team
When purchasing bulk footage of cable, we highly recommend using our cable railing installation kit including our cutters to give a clean cut to the cable railing wire, which allows fittings to easily slide over the ends. Viewrail cable railing is 316 Stainless Steel made for interior and exterior installation.
316 Stainless is a high grade of stainless used in architectural applications in both interior and exterior environments. Stainless Steel Cable Rail Installation suggestions:
Spacing for cables is 3.125″ on center, and balcony height for residential is 36″ minimum (check local codes). A 36″ railing height will require 10 cables. A 39″ handrail height requires 11 cables. A 42″ handrail height requires 12 cables. Recommended cable post spacing is a maximum of 4 feet between posts. Do not exceed the 4′ post spacing. Stainless Steel Wiring can make up to a 45 degree turn.

You can calculate how much you will need by multiply the total length on your run by the amount of holes in a post. So if your run is 24 feet with 36" post (10 holes) you would multiply 24 feet times 10 = 240 feet. Buying 3 100ft spools would be your ideal purchase.
This depends on the kits used. For any run with a "Level Tension Kit to Level Tension Kit" connection, 50' is the longest run recommended for optimal strength. If you have an "Inside Post Mount Kit to Level Tension Kit" run, 30' is the longest recommended length. If you have an "Angle Tension Kit to Angle Tension Kit" run, 30' is the longest recommended length.
