The Signature tread features a solid engineered core wrapped in a hardwood wear layer on all 6 sides—so you’ll never see edge grain, no matter the angle. Each surface is sanded smooth and finished to your specifications, with a refined 1/8” roundover on every edge. Hickory is the hardest and most character-rich domestic hardwood in our lineup, with a Janka rating of 1,820. Its dramatic color variation—ranging from pale cream sapwood to deep reddish-brown heartwood—delivers a bold, one-of-a-kind look on every tread. Hickory’s natural knots and swirling grain patterns make it ideal for rustic, farmhouse, or eclectic stair designs where personality and toughness matter most. Available in standard widths of 36”, 42”, 48”, 54”, 60”, and 72”—or specify a custom size—with an 11-1/4” depth that meets code.
