Solid 5/4 boards are glued face-to-face to build up a full 2" thickness, so you're looking at the beautiful face grain-never the edge-on every surface. Each of the 6 sides is sanded smooth and finished to your specifications, with a refined 1/8" roundover on every edge. Hickory is the hardest and most character-rich domestic hardwood in our lineup, with a Janka rating of 1,820. Its dramatic color variation-ranging from pale cream sapwood to deep reddish-brown heartwood-delivers a bold, one-of-a-kind look on every landing. Hickory's natural knots and swirling grain patterns make it ideal for rustic, farmhouse, or eclectic stair designs where personality and toughness matter most. Available in standard sizes of 36" x 36", 42" x 42", and 48" x 48"-or specify a custom size. Choose unfinished to apply your own stain or clear coat, or select a pre-finished option for a ready-to-install landing platform. Matching stair treads are available to complete your staircase. Note: at 2" thickness, a landing pan or supporting structure beneath the landing is recommended for optimal rigidity.
