Solid 5/4 boards are glued face-to-face to build up a full 2" thickness, so you're looking at the beautiful face grain-never the edge-on every surface. Each of the 6 sides is sanded smooth and finished to your specifications, with a refined 1/8" roundover on every edge. Poplar is a fine-grained hardwood with a smooth, consistent surface that excels as a paint-grade option, delivering a flawless finish when painted. Its light green-to-cream coloring and even texture make it an ideal substrate for custom color schemes. While softer than oak or maple (Janka 540), Poplar is a cost-effective choice for painted staircases where a perfect, uniform surface matters most. Available in standard sizes of 36" x 36", 42" x 42", and 48" x 48"-or specify a custom size. Choose unfinished to apply your own stain or clear coat, or select a pre-finished option for a ready-to-install landing platform. Matching stair treads are available to complete your staircase.
