Level Line Side Mount Posts are Viewrail cable railing posts that allow you to directly attach your post to fascia boards. With the proper amount of blocking on the fascia you can add side mount cable railing posts to any deck. The side mount Level line post from Viewrail is designed to function as an intermediate post in level sections of your railing system. You will need a line post every 4 feet to meet code.
To build a complete system you will need to purchase two additional end posts if your project is a straight line. If your system will turn a corner you will need to buy a corner post.
Frequently Asked Questions
The side mount level line post is the post that's located in the middle of a railing run. It's job is to hold the cable in a line and provide structural support. There is no tensioning hardware necessary for the post.
This answer will depend on how many feet your railing run will span. To be up to code A railing post is required every 4 feet. This means that if you divide your railing span length by 4 you'll have the ALMOST correct amount of posts. Because every project requires TWO end posts. You will subtract this 2 from this number every time. For example 20ft / 4ft = 5, 5 - 2 end posts = 3 line posts.
The top of your mounting plate is designed to sit 1 3/8" under the top of your mounting surface, or deck surface. Each plate is 6" tall, so you will need at least 8" of fascia board.
